The Kids Arrive

Air Force Air Force You're the best
You are better then all the rest

Working hard every day
But there is fun along the way

Great friends there are to be made
I hope my happiness will never fade

Hi Everyone,
Well things are pretty much the same here. We are still trying to find a place to live. We are under pressure now as the kids arrive next week. Things at work are great. I really love it. The Community in st. Louis has been terrific. PPL are unbelievably nice. We have been stying in different ppls houses for the past several weeks to save money on hotels and every shabbos we have been invited out to meals. I can't believe this is the same unfriendly town I lived in as a child. That is all for now.

The House Hunt

It's the Story of A Lovely Family
They had 4 children of their own.

They lived on 4 continents
yet they were all alone

The Air Force moved them to Missouri
Where they could not find a home

Oh what will they do
Yeshiva tuition, help they need a loan

Hi Everyone,
I apologize for not writing it has been a very busy 2 weeks. We are still searching for a place to live. Nothing else really new to say. I will keep you all posted. I will still try to write once a week or so.

Howdy everyone,
The movers packed and finally finished loading late last night and we got on our way. We are almost in Tennessee where our youngest child was born. The best birth of all my kids, on The Farm (started by Ina Mae and Steve Gaskin check out their website), Wow that was an experience of a lifetime. He was born in the water and I also used hypnosis for childbirth with him it was amazing and my midwife Deborah was amazing too. A wonderful place to have a baby.
I can't wait to get to Scott Air force base. I am so excited to be in the Air Force as an officer and a midwife. Even though the training was really rough I learnt so much there. I am so excited to be serving my country.

Driving home at last
Now the MTI terror has past

HOOYAH!!!!!

Hi friends,Well after an exciting week I am driving home. We began the week with AEF. They put us on buses and drove us to a secret compound that looks like you are in Iraq somewhere. We slept in tents. But had decent bathrooms thank goodness. we had pretend exercises running a military field hospital. We had pretend patients who they really had makeup to make their wounds look real. I was one of the people in charge of running the hospital. We had to get ready for bombings and things it was cool. After it was over we raced back to shower and change for the officer's club. When we arrived we were told we made first class status. Meaning we are officially officers. The 2 heads of COT were there and they bought us drinks and hung out with us talking it was really cool. One of my teammates and I hung out just talking. It was awsome. Then we had the dining out last night. My husband drove up for it. It is a formal dinner where you have all these silly rules and if you violate them you go to the Grog bowl where you have a ceremony and have to have a drink either leaded or chunky unleaded. Our flight kidnapped some things from the other flights so 2 flights sent us to the Grog bowl. It was fun. Today we woke up and had graduation parade and then got our certificates. said goodbye to everyone and we are on our way. Next week we will head to our new home!!!Love,Captain J. (that is my what everyone calls me)

Howdy All,
This has been a fun weekend. I hung out with some other teams and went to a baseball game. (minor Leagues The Biscuits) This is our last weekend and next week our last week. HOORAY!!! Tuesday night we go sleep out in the woods and have a practice field hospital. It should be fun except for the spiders, snakes, and mosquitoes. Then wednesday we go to the officers club for an orientation in our BDU's which are not supposed to be smelly (And perfectly pressed)from 2 days in the field? (I don't get that one) Thursday night is dining out when we get to wear our "beautiful" mess dress the formal Air Force clothes. (kind of looks like a tuxedo for women and cost $400). This party is supposed to be very interesting. It has all these rules you need to follow and then you are supposed to send ppl to the Grog by a rhyme. At the grog you have more rules to follow while you drink an alcoholic beverage and try not to fall over drunk. Should be interesting.
Friday is graduation, we have a parade and then it is all Over HURRAY!!!!!

Warm regard's,
Kimberly

Hi everyone,
Well it is Wednesday night and we are almost done 1.5 weeks to go. We had our final exam tuesday and today we gave our informative briefs (speech about a topic) We are also doing LRC this week. LRC is leadership Reaction Course. What that is exercises where 5 people get rea a scenario then you are taken ito the game box and have to figure out how to solve the scenario. It usually involves getting the team members from one side to the other either over water or a fake mined area. You cannot touch certain things or fall in th water or you are penalized. You have 18 minutes to finish. Sometimes you have to build thins to transfer your team. Sometimes you have a dummy on a stretcher you have to get across without spilling. I was in 2 scenarios today. We solved one but not the other. The second one involved crossing a mined area on a skinny board suspended in the air. Kind of like a balance beam. The first attempt I panicked and fell but I did make it across the second time. (I hate heights) The people who are not participating in the scenario act as safey officers and 2 of them caught me when I fell. Anyway tomorrow we do it again. Then next week they take us to do AEF. I do not yet know exactly what that is. I know it involves sleeping in a tent in a field where there may be lots of snakes and spiders and we are going to run a fake field hospital kind of like on Mash. That is it for now. I am going to try to figure out how to put up some photos.

Hi everyone. This has been an insanely busy week and this comming week will be worse. We have a test, a military breifing and Leadership reaction course 3 times. (LRC is a physical problem solving exercise where you have to figure out ways of getting across these mazes with your team and equipment. For those of us afraid of heights it can be a real challenge.

We recieved vaccines on Friday. it depended on your immunity which ones you recieved. They said my measles mumps rubella came out lower then government standards so I got 2 the mennigococcal and the MMR. Out of 287 ppl Iwas the only one to have an allergic reaction to one of them Probably the MMR. I started itching from head to toe. I did not get hives. Just some redness on my back and front. They gave me benadryl. Then Friday night I woke up unable to breathe. I took more benadryl and was Okay. I went yesterday to the doctor and they gave me some allergy pills I wil have to take for one month. (great fun?) We relaxed over the weekend and now I have to go study!!!

Another Day At Boot Camp

Today was a really bad day.
It really is hell in every way.

Keeping kosher is really tough
and getting skinny is really rough

Seven pounds that's not so much
Keep your chin up and don't touch

Oh Momma I want to go home
Please don't keep me here on the roam

Marching, marching every day
I wish that commander would just go away.

I miss my kids all the time
It was more fun doing gyn

Hi everyone,
Well another day done. I weighed myself at the gym today and I officially lost seven pounds in 2 weeks. I am officially calling this the officer training diet plan. I am going to write a book and sell it for millions. How to lose 7 lbs in 2 weeks and get a great body. Wake up at 4 am everyday. Work out for an hour. March whereever you go. Meals you only have 10 minutes to eat (if they have any kosher food or give you enough time to go to the dining hall)and you must drink 3, 10oz glasses of water with your meals. You may not talk at meal time just shove the food in as fast as you can with out choking. Don't forget your back cannot touch the back of the chair. You are at attention young lady!!!!! Drink that water drink it fast you are holding up the rest of your table!!!

Seargent Major,
This diet plan works better then yours. I think I must have lost all my body fat at this point.

Annyway gotta run and do some pushups and situps. I am going to try to get some pictures posted up here.

Warm Regard's,
Capt. Kimberly

Well Everyone as you can see this has been a very rough 2 weeks physically. But I am learning so much and unbelievable stuff. The military is not what I expected. They are educating us to be leaders. It is incredible. I have learned more in this 2 weeks about leadership then ever before. I have been building my confidence skills like crazy. I am very exhausted we really do wake up everyday at 4 am and usually get to bed at 11pm. Kosher food has been a big problem for me They were feeding me MRE's which were horrendous. I had a difficult day today as we ran a 3 mile formation run this morning and then they had us outside doing something for hours and on the way back after I passed out. They did not give us time to really drink all day or barely to eat breakfast. I am feeling great now just tired. This week we have a big test so I have to go and study now. I will try to write more soon. All My love to everyone.

I will try to write at least 2 times per week.

Mizner Park Run

Tonight was our run through Mizner Park (an outdoor area with restaurants and stores and a big park in the middle, very popular for ppl to walk and hang out there) tonight was tough because we did our workout befor the run. One part of the workout when we are in Mizner is the dreaded parking garage.
It is a 6 level parking garage that we have to run up and down uaually at least 3-4 times and we also do some exercises on the top. We were all exhausted after this and still had to put on a good show once we get to Mizner Park for all the onlookers. There we did more exercises around the big fountain and then finally ran back to our starting point. It was tough as I still am not a great runner But I am trying my best!

To those of you who asked me that fabulous herbal product I told you about is called:
rhodiola rosea by Gaia herbs. It is supposed to support your adrenal gland and your bdy's ability to adapt to stress. It gives me more energy and makes me feel awake. ( it is made from a flower there are no stimulants in it of any kind)

I am off to bed!
Tomorrow is the last night of my preboot camp boot camp program. They will teast us to see how we improved. I will let you know tomorow how I did.

Good Night!!!!

Our Secret Mission

Sorry I have not written in a few days. I am so tired and sore from my preboot camp program. We had a couple of very tough nights. Last night was fun though, On the Deerfield beach. We had a secret mission we had to fulfill.
First we had to run a mile and one quarter to find the water supplies for our "dehydrated comrades". Then we had a 3 mile run to find the "nuclear warheads" (poles filled with sand) and "land mines"( eggs). (To find those we ran to boca and back to deerfield.)
We had to be the first team back (which we were!!!!) We had to then deactivate the nuclear bombs by passing them through a hoop maze without touching them to the hoops if you touched they exploded. we all exploded ours so we had to pay the penance. Get in the ocean and fill one of those water cooler bottles with water. ( harder then you think esecially with the waves knocking you down). we were the winning team.
Sean came and watched the whole thing. Tonight is our parade through downtown (mizner park) and tomorrow is our reevalation to see how we have improved!

They'll Make A Marine Out of Me Yet!!!!

Ouch, every bone in my body hurts from last nights boot camp. They killed me. They made me run twice as much as everyone else and do 10 times as many pushups because they know I am going to the Air Force. These Marine Guys are killing me. They played games with my mind. (Kim go run and get me a leaf from that tree, No that is the wrong tree, you don't listen not that tree go back and get another one) They actually made me cry. But better now then in the real thing right?
I really suck at running and pushups and things but I am really trying I hope they realize that. Tonight will be torture as I am so sore from last night I am not looking forward to 2 hours of torture again. UGH!!!
All right enough complaining. Tomorrow I am going Uniform and Boot Shopping. That is cool right?
Tell You more tomorrow.

Last night at work and started boot camp to get ready for real boot camp.

Last night was my last night at Palms West Hospital. It is with great sadness that I left as I really enjoyed working with the wonderful staff there. Although I will not miss working nights as it is tougher to work nights as a nurse then a midwife. ( I am not sure why)
Any way I slept for 5 hours after getting home and then had to get ready for my first night of boot camp to get ready for the real thing.
Tonight We did our body fat measurements. We timed our 1 mile run, our pushups, and our situps. Then we did some other workout stuff as well. We also got a special diet to follow. I am exhausted and am going to bed! Goodnight.

Kim

Getting Ready To Leave

Well here I am at work at 3am. I only have two more night shifts left here at Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee Florida. ( I want to say Thankyou and Bye to all the wonderful people here. The best bunch of nurses I have ever worked with. I will really miss you guys.
Eleanor, I can't believe we found each other again after all these years. You are so wonderful!!!Stay in touch everyone)

My workouts to get ready have not been going so well. It is so hard when you work nights. You are tired all the time. I am hoping to really get ready physically over the next few weeks.

I am taking a Boot camp class starting May 7th for 2 weeks at this great place US Fitness Corps. The instructors there are so wonderful. Helping me run, do pushups and situps and everyhting else.
Some of you have been asking how everything works so this is the plan:
I go to Boot camp for Officers the end of May.
When I finish I go right to our base where I will be working as a nurse midwife in the Air Force. i will work at a hospital just like in the civilian world. But I will be serving our country!
I am very excited as I will have many different opportunities not available to me in the civilian world.
Well that is all for now, I have to get back to work.
Warm Regard's to All!!!!!

Kim Gets Ready For Boot Camp

April 30, 2007
I swore in to become a Captain in the US Air Force. I will be leaving to go the end of May. Kim is going to be serving our country as a nurse and midwife. I have 4 wonderful children and a Fabulous husband who will be accompanying me on my adventures and journeys in the Air Force.
I am creating this blog so my friends can tune in and see how boot camp and our adventures are going.
